University of Notre Dame students Stephen “Pete” Freeman and Gabriel Higuera have been selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, to study or intern abroad during the 2016-2017 academic year.
Freeman, of Noblesville, Indiana, is a sociology and gender studies major and a Sorin Scholar and Eagan Fellow through the University’s Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement (CUSE). He will be going to the Rwanda program this fall. Higuera, of Tomball, Texas, is a mechanical engineering major and QuestBridge Scholar. He will be going to the London program.
