Back in the Swing of Things

Aside from those who study abroad, most college students are not overseas for their first three weeks of class. Every so often, however, there comes along an exception. This year, Notre Dame had two.

Junior Mandy Laddish and freshman Cari Roccaro had been in Japan since early-mid August playing on the FIFA Under-20 Women’s US Soccer Team. The tournament ran from Aug. 19 until Sept. 8, when they won a World Cup title against Germany. Roccaro, who was the second-youngest on the U.S. squad, played in five of six matches, four of which she started. Laddish played in three of six games, totaling 137 minutes of playing time.
