University of Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey will be back at Wrigley Field to take part in game day festivities for the first time since 2001 when the Chicago Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. Brey is scheduled to throw out the first pitch for the 7:15 p.m. (ET) start and then will lead Cubs fans in the traditional seventh inning stretch.
Joe Maddon Bobbleheads, presented by Pepsi, will be given to the first 10,000 fans in attendance at the game. The contest will be broadcast on FOX, 780-AM and Cubs.com.
Brey, who will begin his 16th season on the Fighting Irish bench in 2015-16, guided his squad to one of the most electrifying seasons in program history as Notre Dame finished with a 32-6 record (second most wins in the 110-year history of the program), advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1979 and won the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in March by dispatching Miami, Duke and North Carolina in Greensboro, North Carolina en route to the title.
