CHICAGO -- What does a father do when the loss is too painful to imagine? When the phone rings one terrible day, and his oldest child has been killed filming a Notre Dame football practice?   

"You only have so much energy,'' Barry Sullivan is saying on a cold Monday in Chicago. "You can spend that energy in anger or on negative things, or you can turn it toward something positive.

"That is what we choose to do.''
