Penn State University has signed Lady Lions basketball coach Coquese Washington to a two-year contract extension, athletic directory Sandy Barbour announced Thursday.
Washington, who was introduced as the program’s fifth head coach in 2007, led the Lady Lions to three consecutive Big Ten championships in 2012, 2013, 2014. The extension keeps her under contract through at least the 2018-19 season.
“I know that this contract extension, that we started working on after our 2014 Big Ten Championship, will give our staff the opportunity to continue to build this program into one of the strongest in the country,” Washington said in a statement. “I have had the opportunity to work with so many fantastic student-athletes, coaches and staff members here at Penn State. I am grateful to Eric Barron, Sandy Barbour and our administration and staff for their tireless support of our program.”
