The long and distinguished life of Father Ted Hesburgh lives on in photographs.
“This is a shot, I was in his office with his secretary Helen, and he just kind of walked in, and I did a double take, and he said ‘what do you think?’ I said you look tremendous,” said Bruce Harlan, referring to a rare photograph of Fr. Hesburgh sporting a full beard.
Harlan was Notre Dame’s photographer for the entire 35 years that Hesburgh served as University President. “I had 35 years under him and I had two years seniority on him, which I had fun with.”
