Kathie Newman, professor of phyiscs

Kathie Newman, professor of physics, is being recognized with this year’s Director of Graduate Studies Award. The award is given by the Graduate School to recognize the person who has made the most significant impact on graduate studies in his or her program.

Newman has served as the department’s DGS since 2003. Her role encompasses all duties related to graduate student administration including advising, admissions, and teaching assignments. Newman is also active in ongoing refinement of the graduate student curriculum offered by the department.
