Bob Hope at Notre Dame Stadium

It was one of South Bend’s most notable historic events back on Monday, May 28, 1945. More than 50,000 people would attend the Seventh War Bond Rally in Notre Dame’s football stadium for the 6 p.m. star-studded event. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Jerry Colonna had slipped into town on the New York Central Railroad about 5:30 a.m. from Cleveland, Ohio.
