The Atlantic Coast Conference released its All-ACC Women’s Lacrosse Team, highlighted by three University of Notre Dame players, on Wednesday. Irish senior attacker Cortney Fortunato and senior midfielder Casey Pearsall are First Team All-ACC selections, while senior midfielder Alex Dalton received Second Team All-ACC honors.
The ACC’s head coaches voted on two teams comprised of 12 players, including a goalie.
The All-ACC honor marks the third of Fortunato’s career and second first team honor in as many years. Fortunato received Second Team All-ACC accolades as a sophomore. She has tallied 73 points on 54 goals and 19 assists this season.
Fortunato ranks second all-time in the Irish record book in goals (220) and points (303), and is third in assists (83).
Pearsall was tagged with her second all-conference selection after being named Second Team All-ACC in 2016. The Wilton, Connecticut, native leads Notre Dame in assists (27) and draw controls (52). Earlier this season, she set the program record for most draw controls in a single game with 10.
Fortunato and Pearsall, both of whom were Inside Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-Americans, also were named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List earlier this season.
For Dalton, the honor is the first of her career. An Inside Lacrosse Preseason Honorable Mention, Dalton ranks third on the Irish roster in ground balls (30) and draw controls (25). In 14 games this season, Dalton has recorded 14 points on nine goals and five assists.
