Jake Evans scored twice and Cal Petersen stopped all 22 shots he faced to help lead Notre Dame to a 3-0 win at Massachusetts on Saturday night at the Mullins Center (3,039).
Andrew Oglevie also scored for the Irish, who improved to 8-6-2 (4-3-1 HEA) with the win, while Massachusetts moved to 4-8-2 (2-6-1 HEA).
Petersen's 22 saves included four big saves when the Irish killed off overlapping penalties in the first period, including 35 seconds of a 5-on-3 advantage. Petersen's shutout was his second of the season and the seventh of his career.
The Irish finished 0-for-2 on the power play, but also held Massachusetts to a 0-for-5 mark on the power play.
In net, Ryan Wischow made 33 saves for the Minutemen as Notre Dame outshot UMass 36-22.
