Irish Start Out Strong, Hold Onto Sixth Place

The Notre Dame Women’s Golf Team stands in sixth place after two rounds at the Jim West Challenge, hosted by Texas State University at the Fazio Course at The Club at Carlton Woods (par 72/ 6,137 yards).

The Irish got off to a quick start, landing in second place after Sunday morning’s first round, just two strokes behind leader Florida State. Notre Dame shot a six-under team score of 282 in the first round, and were trailed closely by Oklahoma, two strokes behind.

After a slightly higher second round of 294 (+6), the Irish dropped four places to sixth, tied with Oklahoma. Florida State holds the lead at 15-under par, followed by Kent State and Texas, tied at seven-under par. Florida State’s Matilda Castren leads the field at -10, followed by Thanya Pattamakijsakul (Texas A&M) and Julienne Soo (Oklahoma), both at -7.
