Notre Dame Men's Basketball | Dec. 7, 2013 | Notre Dame Athletics

Jerian Grant scored 25 points, including a pair of 15-foot jumpers in the final 95 seconds after Delaware cut the lead to one, to lead Notre Dame to an 80-75 victory over the Blue Hens on Saturday in the first round of the Gotham Classic.

Trailing 68-60, the Blue Hens used a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 70-69 on a layup by Jarvis Threatt. But Grant hit the back-to-back jumpers to end a seven-minute drought by the Irish without a field goal as Notre Dame regained control. Pat Connaughton, who had 21 points, made four free throws in the final minutes and Garrick Sherman, who added 19, made two.

Notre Dame (6-2) had a 37-27 rebounding advantage over Delaware (5-4) and outscored the Blue Hens in the paint 36-24. The Blue Hens shot 54 percent in the second half, but couldn't come up with the big shots when they needed it at the end.
