Notre Dame and Navy: Mutual Respect

Fighting Irish Athletics | October 5, 2015

"Onward Notre Dame: Mutual Respect," a half-hour special detailing the football rivalry between the University of Notre Dame and the U.S. Naval Academy, debuts at 6:30 p.m. EDT today on the NBC Sports Network.

The show, produced by 3 Penny Films in conjunction with Fighting Irish Media, will re-air at 4:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, both on NBCSN. The Oct. 10 airing comes just prior to the 3:30 p.m. EDT football kickoff of Notre Dame versus Navy from Notre Dame Stadium on NBC.
"Onward Notre Dame: Mutual Respect" tells the stories behind the Notre Dame-Navy series, its ties to World War II, Notre Dame's 43-year winning streak and the 2007 Navy breakthrough win. The two teams pay respect to each other at the end of each game--with the Notre Dame squad standing behind the Navy players during playing of the Navy Hymn and the Midshipmen standing behind the Irish during the Notre Dame alma mater.
