Remembering Dave Brubeck

Dave Brubeck, renowned jazz pianist and winner of Notre Dame's prestigious Laetare Medal, passed away Wednesday. He was 91.

Brubeck, who earned fame as a jazz pianist for music that was both imaginative and popular, was awarded Notre Dame's prestigious Laetare Medal in 2006. At the commencement ceremony, Brubeck followed up his acceptance of the award by playing "Traveling Blues" as a musical farewell to the graduates.
