Revisiting Rudy, 20 Years Later

Like “Gipp” or “Rock” or “Lou,” “Rudy” has joined the Notre Dame pantheon as a single name that calls to mind part of the University’s storytelling canon. And it’s mostly because of a movie.

In 1993, the film Rudy was released and told the story of Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger ’76, a dogged underdog who had no size but no quit either, and managed to gain admittance to Notre Dame and walk on and play for the fabled Fighting Irish.
