Just nine days after being selected as a Honda Sport Award Nominee for cross country, Anna Rohrer was named Atlantic Coast Conference Female Cross Country Performer of the Year on Wednesday.
Rohrer becomes the second straight Notre Dame recipient of the ACC’s female performer of the year honor. Graduate student Molly Seidel, who won the 2015 NCAA Championship, was the recipient of last year’s award.
Rohrer, a Mishawaka, Indiana, native, won the ACC Cross Country Championship 6K (19:26.4) and finished third in the NCAA Cross Country Championship 6K (19:44.6). Her time of 19:44.6 marked the second-fastest championship 6K in Irish program history.
A two-time All-American, Rohrer has recorded two top-10 national championship finishes in just two seasons.
"Anna has really matured as person and as an athlete over the last year, and that maturity was on display at championship time,” Notre Dame associate head coach Matt Sparks said. “She has developed the confidence necessary to be a strong leader for our program."
