SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP)- Pat Connaughton scored 21 points, Demetrius Jackson added 13 and Notre Dame ended a three-game losing streak, beating Virginia Tech 70-63 Sunday night.

The Irish (11-7, 2/3 ACC) ended their losing streak on a night when former coach Digger Phelps was inducted into the school's Ring of Honor on the 40th anniversary of his second-ranked Notre Dame squad beating UCLA 71-70 to end the Bruins' 88-game winning streak. The Hokies (8-9, 1-4) lost their fourth straight and for the sixth time in seven tries. Read More

Sophomore center Steven Fogarty scored a pair of goals while Mario Lucia and Peter Schneider notched one goal each to lead Notre Dame to a 4-2 win over Lake Superior State in front of a sellout crowd of 5,022 at the Compton Family Ice Arena.

Alex Globke and Matt Johnson scored for Lake Superior while goaltender Kevin Murdock made over 40 saves (41) for the second consecutive night in the loss. For the weekend, Notre Dame fired 94 shots at the Laker goaltender and he finished with 84 saves in the two games. Read More
