EVANSTON, Ill. - The University of Notre Dame men's swimming and diving team went down to the wire with Northwestern Saturday, and a pair of top three 400 freestyle relay finishes for the host Wildcats in the final event of the day yielded a rare 150-150 tie between the teams at the Norris Aquatic Center. No. 1 Michigan defeated Northwestern 177-115, but the Wolverines and Irish did not score against one another in the meet after competing against each other on two previous occasions during the season's opening weekend. EVANSTON, Ill. - In its first meet of 2014, the University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team won six individual events and a relay to power the Irish to victories over former BIG EAST foe Rutgers (206-94) and Big Ten member Northwestern (160-140) in a four team dual meet Saturday at Northwestern Aquatic Center. Notre Dame scored the first seven points of the game, stretched the lead to double figures in less than 10 minutes and by halftime its lead was bigger than the Eagles' most lopsided loss of the season.
