More than 50,000 people would attend the Seventh War Bond Rally in Notre Dame’s football stadium for the 6 p.m. star-studded event. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Jerry Colonna had slipped into town on the New York Central Railroad about 5:30 a.m. from Cleveland, Ohio.
