Dylan Malmquist scored in the first period and Cal Petersen held one of the nation's most prolific offenses off the board to lead Notre Dame to a 3-0 win over New Hampshire on Saturday night at the Compton Family Ice Arena (4,652).

Petersen made 31 saves to earn his NCAA-leading fifth shutout of the season and the tenth of his career.

Andrew Peeke and Jake Evans added third period insurance goals for the Irish (14-8-3, 7-4-2 HEA), while Andrew Oglevie recorded a pair of assists.

New Hampshire (11-9-4, 6-3-3 HEA) goaltender Danny Tirone finished with 40 saves on the night.

Notre Dame took a 1-0 lead at 14:16 of the first period when Malmquist picked up a rebound in front off of an Anders Bjork shot and wristed home his sixth goal of the season.

After a scoreless second period, Peeke notched an insurance tally at 3:54 of the third period with a shot from the top of the circle after collecting a pass from Evans, who was situated on the goal line to Tirone's left.

Evans then pushed the lead to 3-0 at 7:52 of the third when he beat Tirone high with a shot from the slot for his eighth goal of the season. Evans has now notched at least one point in 10 of Notre Dame's last 11 games.

Joe Wegwerth also drew a penalty shot in the third period after he was slashed on a breakaway, but Tirone made a right pad save on the ensuing penalty shot attempt by the sophomore winger.

The Irish were boosted by going three-for-three on the penalty kill, blanking a New Hampshire power play which came into the night ranked seventh in the nation.
