NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Freshman Sydney Bent, senior Ryann DeJarld, freshman Zoe Nunez and junior Jemma Yeadon were each selected to the 2018 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Volleyball Team, the conference announced this morning (Jan. 30).
DeJarld and Yeadon each earn the honor for the third consecutive year.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
An aerospace engineering major in the College of Engineering, Bent finished third on the Irish with 270 kills en route to earning All-ACC Second Team and All-Freshman Team accolades. She notched 10+ kills on 13 occasions this season, including seven of the final eight contests and a 24-kill effort vs. NC State on November 9. Bent proved to be a reliable two-way player for Notre Dame as well, collecting 174 digs and 67 blocks in 97 sets this year.
A management consulting major in the Mendoza College of Business, DeJarld became the first player in program history to earn conference Defensive Player of the Year recognition when she was named the ACC's top defender in 2018. This season, she paced the ACC with 532 digs and an average of 5.02 digs per set while anchoring an Irish defense that led the conference by limiting opponents to a .164 hitting percentage.
