After a stellar senior year on the basketball court at Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois, some big-time basketball programs started to take notice. Focused on strong academic schools, Jackson decided to head to Northwestern for his final recruiting visit. The day before the trip, Notre Dame called offering him a scholarship.
“I cancelled my visit to Northwestern, flew up to South Bend that day, and fell in love with that campus,” Jackson remembers. “I signed the following Monday.”
Almost 30 years later, Jackson cites that last-minute decision as a pivotal moment in a journey that has taken him to the top of the corporate world. In February, Jackson was named the CFO of Nielsen, a leading provider of consumer behavior and information.
