I first met Michael McDonald ’09 in the summer before my freshman year at Notre Dame. A cousin of a friend and a rising senior, he generously agreed to show me around campus.
Since he graduated in 2009, I had heard scattered updates of his whereabouts. Now in France. Now in Africa. Volunteering. Writing. My curiosity was piqued when I heard he was publishing books from Kenya, and McDonald filled me in during a recent Skype session. His story exemplifies the impact of the grateful, giving spirit we hope infuses all Notre Dame graduates.
