Beginning fall 2020, the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program will offer a new data analytics concentration as well as a host of accounting-focused data analytics courses.
Developed through a collaboration between existing accounting analytics faculty and new associate teaching professor of accountancy Elizabeth Chorvat, the concentration can be earned through eight credit hours of approved coursework and is available to students pursuing either MSA degree track: Assurance and Advisory Services or Tax Services.
Required courses for the data analytics concentration include Data Exploration & Visualization and Accounting Data Management, as well as Advanced Accounting Analytics.
Through Data Exploration & Visualization, students will apply data visualization techniques to solve for simulated client needs across sectors. Utilizing Tableau, Alteryx, Tableau Prep, and R Studio, students will develop dashboards that distill complex information into efficient, accessible formats.
