NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The University of Notre Dame men's lacrosse program and Baumer Family Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan released the 2019 schedule, a 12-game slate that features seven games at Arlotta Stadium and Loftus Sports Center. The Irish enter the season ranked in the top 10 again, earning the No. 6 ranking from Inside Lacrosse and No. 8 from US Lacrosse Magazine.
"I don't think there is any question that we play the most difficult schedule in the country," said Corrigan. "I think we play the best teams from every league. If you look whom we have played from the fall up to the NCAA Tournament we will have played the best teams in the country. I think that is the challenge and exciting opportunity that our guys look forward to."
The Irish have reached 13 consecutive NCAA Championships and have played in eight of the last nine quarterfinals entering the 2019 season. Notre Dame is set to return four of its top five returning goal scorers from last season and its entire close defense and goalie.
TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN THE COUNTRY
Notre Dame always challenges itself with by playing one of the toughest schedules in the country and the 2019 slate will be no different. Of Notre Dame's 12 regular-season opponents, nine are in the top 20 of Inside Lacrosse's preseason rankings. The Irish are set to face five opponents ranked in the top 10 of the poll, as Notre Dame will face No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Maryland, No. 5 Cornell, No. 7 Denver and No. 8 Virginia. Notre Dame will also square off against No. 11 Syracuse, No. 16 North Carolina, No. 17 Ohio State and No. 19 Michigan.
