GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame infielder MK Bonamy has been named ACC Softball Player of the Week, and Danielle Watson of Louisville and Brittany Pickett of North Carolina have been selected as the Co-Pitchers of the Week.
Bonamy had a stellar week for Notre Dame in wins over IUPUI and a weekend sweep of Boston College. The senior from Hoover, Alabama, went 6-for-9 at the plate (.667), and slugged 1.111. Bonamy had a hit in each game for the Irish, and racked up 10 total bases, seven RBI, three weeks, two stolen bases, a double and a home run.
Watson came up big in two wins over No. 3 Florida State on the weekend. In a 2-0 win over the Seminoles on Saturday, the sophomore from Osceola, Indiana, pitched a complete game and only allowed one hit. Watson also pitched 6.1 innings in a 10-9 win against Florida State on Monday.
Pickett led the Tar Heels to a sweep of Virginia over the weekend. The junior from Indian Trail, North Carolina, didn’t allow a single run and only gave up three hits in two complete games. Pickett limited Virginia to a .094 batting average and racked up 12 strikeouts in her 10 innings of work.
