And because we like to stay current here at The Daily Domer, it seems only appropriate that we celebrate today's great historical moustache alongside the football team's thrilling defeat of USC, 22-13, to finish the season undefeated.
Today's moustache of historical greatness belongs to none other than Lars Rockne, a Norwegian smith and wagonmaker who journeyed from Voss, Norway, to the northwest side of Chicago. If you're wondering why his name seems familiar, it's probably because you're in the midst of a Knute Rockne: All-American marathon; which is to say, in a roundabout way, that Lars Rockne was the father of Knute Rockne, who hopefully needs no introduction.
So while your Movember moustache may lack the fantastic follicular fortitude of the elder Rockne's, that's okay: you can still encourage your moustachioed friends to fight! fight! fight! until they're over that goal line. That's something the whole Notre Dame family can be proud of.
Go Irish! And don't forget - You can donate now at Movember.

About our Movember stories
Here at The Daily Domer, we enjoy combining our creative powers for the common good. With so many talented teachers, staff, students and alumni doing excellent work on campus and around the globe, it’s fun to put all that genius talent together for Notre Dame.
When we heard that the Fighting Irish hockey team is participating in Movember, an initiative in which men grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, we knew this was a prime opportunity to combine brainpower and facial hair for a good cause.
So we visited our wonderful friends at the Notre Dame Archives with a crazy idea. In support of the Notre Dame hockey team, we wanted to feature some of the fantastic facial hair from Notre Dame’s history. It turns out Notre Dame’s photo archives are veritable ‘stache stash.
For the last ten days in November, we’re featuring ten of the best moustaches (and moustache-beard combos) in Notre Dame history!
