Public Invited to Last Day of the ND Trail

Area residents are invited Saturday to join the final day of the Notre Dame Trail, which will include a walk from Howard Park in South Bend to the University of Notre Dame to mark the university’s 175th anniversary.

The Notre Dame Marching Band will join more than 3,000 walkers expected to participate on the final 3-mile leg of the trail. Those planning to join the walk should arrive at Howard Park by 8:30 a.m., when there will be a brief ceremony. The walk will begin about 8:45 a.m.

Free parking is available Saturday at Notre Dame. Trail participants are invited to park in the public lots near Notre Dame Stadium and Purcell Pavilion and take a free shuttle to Howard Park. Shuttles from campus to Howard Park will run from 6 to 8 a.m. After the event, shuttles will run a loop from the university’s Main Circle on Notre Dame Avenue to lots downtown from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
