Predicting Monkey Business

A leading international primatologist has described a GPS tracking project involving Gibraltar’s famous Barbary Macaques as a “success”, even though experts are only halfway through their analysis.

Professor Agustin Fuentes said the data could help monkey management teams to predict how the macaques range across Gibraltar, including into town.

The aim of the project is to ensure that evidence-based management is incorporated to the existing monkey plan.
