University of Notre Dame sophomore Anna Rohrer today was named USTFCCCA Cross Country National Athlete of the Week for the first time in her short college career.
Rohrer finished first individually (16:11.7) in the elite Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday at Burke Golf Course (Notre Dame, Indiana). Running against five nationally-ranked opponents, Rohrer set an Irish personal record for a 5K race and recorded the second-best finish in the 30-year history of the women's race. She led the Irish to an eighth-place finish.
The victory was Rohrer's second career first-place finish, the other coming in the 2015 National Catholic (Notre Dame, Indiana) with a time of 17:20.7.
