GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Irish continue to add to their season's success as seven members were named Academic All-ACC by the conference Wednesday. Striving for the best, both in and out of the pool, the 2018-19 Academic Swimming and Diving Team features five new Irish faces to the list as well as two-time honoree Jack Montesi and Abigail Dolan who earned the recognition for a third-straight season.
Named to the women's team is Dolan, Nikki Smith and Alice Treuth while Josh Bottelberghe, Austin Flaute and Andrew Winton join Montesi on the men's academic team.
"I am extremely proud of our swimmers and divers that have been named to this year's ACC All Academic Team," head coach Mike Litzinger said of the honors. "It is a recognition that these individuals practice their craft of academics and athletics at a high level, which is our expectation at Notre Dame."
All three women honored highlighted the NCAA Championships in March, earning All-American Honorable Mention honors at the national meet. The men's team features three freshmen in Bottelberghe, Flaute and Winton as well as Dean's List recipient Montesi.
Honorees must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or greater through the previous semester and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 during the last academic year. Athletic accomplishments are also considered in the process to determine the all-conference academic team.
