University of Notre Dame women’s golf head coach Susan Holt has announced senior Alison Snakard as the team’s captain for the 2017-18 season.
“It really came down to what player on the team has the respect from everyone else on the team and Alison is clearly that player,” Holt said. “I think she's proved herself. She's a true walk on and she's stuck it out and reaped the rewards through all of her hard work and effort. Her teammates really respect her for that.”
Snakard helped the Irish open the 2017-18 season with a strong showing at the Minnesota Invitational (Sept. 11-12) as Notre Dame tied for third. In the second and third rounds, she matched her career-best total from last season’s ACC Championship and fired back-to-back 73’s to score for the Irish.
“I couldn't be happier with how Alison played last weekend,” Holt added. “She followed up and proved herself by playing really well in the second and third rounds. With what our team needs right now and the direction of where we need to go with our team culture, Alison is perfect to fulfill the role of team captain.”
An accounting major in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Snakard has now played in 10 career tournaments including last season’s ACC Championship to close the season and the Minnesota Invitational to open the new campaign.
