Students Get Hooked on Physics at ND

Notre Dame is one of the best research universities in the country and it's passing that love of learning to a new generation.

QuarkNet is reaching out to area high school students. The program was founded 20 years ago and groups professors, high school teachers and students for physics research projects. Today, those young scientists showed the hard work they did this summer.

"You stay up all night," reminisces Randy Ruchti. "You wait for your professor to go home so you can make mistakes and then fix them all up before he gets back. That's part of the excitement of science. Fundamental research."
