College sports are all about tradition. And hardly any school values its tradition as much as Notre Dame.
ESPN has put together the ultimate Bucket List, which consists of places and traditions that you must see at some point in your life.
Naturally, Notre Dame makes this list, with the pregame sites and sounds of the South Bend, Ind., campus serving as a must-see event for any college football fan. Writes Ivan Maisel:
The charm of spending an autumn Saturday at Notre Dame lies in a walk across the L-shaped quad. Around Notre Dame Stadium, the icons abound. Statues of legendary coaches surround the stadium. Above them all is Touchdown Jesus. When the school expanded the stadium, the architect had to make sure he didn't obscure the fans' view of the mosaic, or the deity's view of the game below. The only paint on the field is for the hashmarks and yard lines. That's another reason why a fall Saturday at Notre Dame seems timeless. The view never changes, for Touchdown Jesus or the rest of us. -- Ivan Maisel
