World Championships Underway for Plaschka

Rising senior Justin Plaschka kicked off the first of his four events at the 17th FINA World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday by swimming in the 50 meter butterfly, placing 41st in the world out of 82 entrants in a time of 24.62.

Plaschka will represent Jamaica three more times this week on this year's grandest global stage, competing in the 100 meter freestyle on Wednesday, and in both the 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter butterfly on Friday. Plaschka holds the Jamaican record in all four events and is the Notre Dame record holder in the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 meter butterfly.
